The MEC for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, Mr Sikhumbuzo Eric Kholwane has thrown his weight behind the success of small and emerging farmers in the Province.
Delivering the welcoming address at the meeting of Mpumalanga and Oman business delegations in White, MEC Kholwane said the Department of Economic Development and Tourism will support emerging farmers to succeed in their ventures.
“Our investment agency, Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency (MEGA) will work closely with emerging farmers to ensure that their fresh produce are export ready for the international markets, including Oman.
“We will also contribute to sustainability of the businesses, aided by the recently concluded agreement with the Provincial Government Banker which has opened the credit line for enterprises in the agriculture and fishery industries”, said MEC Kholwane
MEC Kholwane expressed confidence in the six year old working relations between the Province of Mpumalanga and Oman.
“The relations between Mpumalanga and Oman offer an excellent opportunity to respond to our unique socio-economic challenges while putting our regions on a prosperous path,” said MEC Kholwane.
The Provincial government is committed to continuing engagement with Oman and to explore investments around food hub, dairy and poultry farming as well as animal feed.
