Mbombela – The MEC, Mr. Sikhumbuzo Eric Kholwane has called on entrepreneurs to unearth their inner skills to contribute towards the economy of Mpumalanga.
The MEC was addressing 250 entrepreneurs on the 15th August 2017 during the National Empowerment Fund (NEF) Expo which was held at Casambo Exclusive lodge outside Nelspruit.
‘’As the Province, we are ready to partner with all business enterprises in driving important areas of work to the benefit of the people of Mpumalanga. Co-operatives, SMME’s and Entrepreneurs deserve better. I have asked the Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency (MEGA) and all institutions that belong to the Economic Development and Tourism family to review their policies within a bias towards Small Businesses and Co-operatives in the province’’.
‘’To ensure that issues of SMME‘s and Co-operatives become the center stage towards job creation in the Province , MEGA has set aside an amount of 10 million rand to support SMME and Co-operatives in the implementation of the Nutrition Programe in Mpumalanga ‘’said MEC Kholwane. Speaking at the same event, National Empowerment Fund Division (NEF) Divisional Executive for Rural & SME Development, Mr. Setlakalane Molepe, assured entrepreneurs that the NEF is looking forward to see more entrepreneurs’s playing a leading role in job creation in the province.
“As NEF, we want to see sustainable businesses from South Africa and Mpumalanga from black –owned enterprises in every key sector of the economy, supported by financial projections and where relevant, by viable contracts or pre- approved franchise licensed from leading brands”, explained Mr Setlakalane Malope.
The National Empowerment Expo gave state owned entities such as Eskom, Transnet and MEGA an opportunity to showcase their funding model for entrepreneurs.
